CHITTAGONG: A district court has awarded death sentence to a man on charge of killing his wife.

Judge of Chittagong District and Sessions Judge Helal Uddin Chowdhury delivered the verdict on Monday (November 20).

The convict is Md. Mostafa Prokash Shukkur of Notunpara area of South Pahartoli under Hathazari upazila in the district.

Chittagong district Public Prosecutor (PP) AKM Sirajul Islam told Banglanews that Mostafa strangled his wife-Rojina to death at night on April 6 in 2010.

Later, he fabricated a story of her suicide after hanging her body from the ceiling fan.

On April 7, Rojina’s mother lodged a file with Hathazari Police Station.
