KUSHTIA: A district court on Wednesday (November 22) sentenced two persons to death and eight others to life term imprisonment for killing a student of North South University (NSU) in 2014.
The death-row convicts are—Bappy and Sumon.
AMB Mahmudul Haque of Kushtia Additional District & Sessions Judge Court announced the verdict Wednesday (November 22), said the court prosecutor Advocate Anup Kumar Nandi.
Touhidul Islam Lipu, the slain student, went missing on August 31, 2014. His father lodged an abduction case with Kushtia Model police station on September 4.
He was killed on September 1. The body was drowned in Padma river by tying up with bricks.
Lipu was abducted in order to snatch his expensive motorcycle and get ransom from his father, RAB sources added.
