DHAKA: The High Court has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to give compensation for a child, as the seven-year old child was injured of electrocution from an open electric wire in City’s Zigatola area.
Justice Qazi Reza-ul-Haq and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order on Thursday (December 14) following a writ petition.
The court issued a directive, asking the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) to take safety measure for that open electric wire within 60 days in the concerned area.
Besides, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) authorities were given instructions to provide treatment for the child at state’s cost.
Lawyer Amit Das Gupta and lawyer Muntasir Mahmud Rahman moved for petitioner in the court.
Lawyer Muntasir said that the child- Rafsan Nur- was playing on the corridor of a 4-storied building in Zigatola area.
At that time, a bird landed on an open electric wire, and the kid went to catch it. As a result, 20% of his body, including his face was burnt. Currently, he is undergoing treatment at burn unit of DMCH.
