GAZIPUR: A Gazipur court has awarded life term imprisonment to a youth on charge of killing a housewife at Kaliganj upazila in the district in 2008.

Judge of the Additional District and Sessions Court-1 in Gazipur Md Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan delivered the verdict on Wednesday (January 17) in presence of the convict.

Additional public prosecutor (APP) Md Makbul Hossain moved in the court on behalf of the state, while Advocate Mahbubur Rahman moved for the convict.

The convict is Alamgir, 32, son of Safur Uddin of Chhoto Deulia village under Kaliganj upazila in the district.

According to the case statement, the convict killed Sajeda Begum, 35, wife of Nabir Hossain of Durbarti village of the upazila in the night on August 05 in 2008 at her residence. Alamgir entered the residence for theft.
