New CJ Mahmud for fine-tuning 3 state organs

DHAKA: Newly appointed Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said he will try his best to ensure justice for every person by establishing rule of law firmly in the country.

The new CJ also said that he will also try to create harmony among the three organs of the state.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain made the remarks in response to the welcome speeches given by Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Supreme Court Bar Association president Joynul Abedin on Sunday (Feb 4). 

Referring to lawyers, the CJ said, “I hope that they will extend their helping hand towards me do the job of Chief Justice as they did in High Court and Appellate Division earlier. I firmly believe that mutual respect, trust and cooperation in Bar Association will build a rich base for the judiciary.” 
Mentioning the importance of coordination among state’s three organs, he said “A state can only move towards development if it’s three organs (Legislative, Executive and Judiciary) is properly coordinated. I will do everything in power to ensure that cooperation and also try to ensure the proper role of SC as per constitution.”   

“We all have to participate building the court’s image in a way so that the people can be sure of getting lawful justice. It will restore people’s trust and confidence towards court”, he said.

 “The log jam of the cases is not only a big problem for court but also for the Bar Association. We have to work in unity to solve this problem.” 

Moreover, in the present context, it is essential to formulate law to appoint Justice according to Article 95 (2) (c) of the Constitution, he added.
