SIRAJGANJ:  Two persons were sentenced to life imprisonment for gang raping a housewife in Sirajganj.

In addition, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Md Nazir fined them Tk 1 lakh each, in default, one more year of punishment on Tuesday (October 16).

The convicts were identified as Md Abdul Momin, 40, hails from Kobdaspara area under Sirajganj municipality, and Hafijul Islam Babu, 42.

Public Prosecutor of the court advocate Abdul Hamid Lovelu confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

According to case statement, a woman of the town was heading towards her sister’s house at dawn after having a quarrel with her husband on October 11, 2017. She was waiting for a rickshaw. Spotting the woman alone, some men took her away and gang-raped her. After 2 hours of the ordeal, the men got her on a rickshaw and fled the spot.

Later, the victim filed a case against five men.
