Writ petition filed against legality of DU ‘D’ unit test

DHAKA: A writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC) on Sunday challenging legality of the admission test of Dhaka University (DU) 2008-2009 academic year 'D' unit.

Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition with the HC department concerned this morning.

Earlier on October 18, Yunus Ali Akand served a legal notice to Dhaka University vice chancellor and Education secretary seeking cancellation of the ‘Gha’ unit admission test result.

The lawyer’s daughter also took part in the Gha unit admission test.

The DU ‘Gha’ unit admission test was held on October 12. The authority failed to recognize several allegations of the question paper leaks during the examinations. Later police detained six people who were involved in question leakage and a DU committee was formed in this regard.

The results publication was stayed in the beginning but DU authority published results on October 16. Around 26 percent admission seekers have obtained pass marks which is the highest pass rate in this unit in the last five years.

On the same day, the authorities admitted that the question paper of “Gha” Unit admission test was leaked via “digital forgery”, but they published the result anyway.

Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council demanded cancellation of ‘Gha’ unit admission test of Dhaka University. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) also demanded a retake of the examination.
