TANGAIL:  Local administration imposed section 144 after Awami League and Jatiya Oikyafront had called rallies at bus stand area in Basail upazila of the district at the same time.

Section 144 is applicable to Basail bus stand and its surrounding areas of Basail upazila from 12 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday (December 26).

Basail Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shamsunnahar Swapna confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Law and order situation could be degenerated into chaos as two parties called rallies at 3 pm. Section 144 has been imposed in fear of such situations. Already, residents of the concerned areas have been informed using microphone, UNO said.
