Khulna journo remanded in Digital Security Act Hedait Hossain Mollah at Batiaghata Police Station on Jan 1

KHULNA: A district court placed Dhaka Tribune’s Khulna Correspondent Hedait Hossain Mollah on three-day remand under Digital Security Act.

Khulna Judicial Magistrate Court-3 Judge Nayan Biswas passed the order Wednesday (Jan 2) noon.

Hedait Hossain Mollah, also the city editor of Khulna-based Daily Probaho, was arrested from Gollamari area of Khulna Tuesday (Jan 1) afternoon.

Assistant Returning Officer also Batiaghata Upazila Nirbahi Officer Debashish Chowdhury, as the plaintiff, filed a case accusing two including Hedait for misreporting the amount of votes in Khulna-1 constituency in the 11th national elections.

The reports published in Dhaka Tribune and Daily Manabzamin stated 22,000 plus votes more than the total voter cast in the constituency.

Daily Manabzamin’s Khulna Correspondent Rashidul Islam has been named the other accused.
