DHAKA: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will pronounce its verdict of five war crimes accused of Purbodhola upazila in Netrokona any day.
The three-judge tribunal led by its chairman Justice Shinur Islam declared the judgment CAV on Monday (January 28) after the counsels of both sides wrapped up their closing arguments.
CAV, the abbreviation of the Latin legal term ‘curia advisari vult,’ means reserving the verdict for pronouncement later.
In its argument, prosecution demanded capital punishment for the war crimes accused.
On the other hand, defense sought acquittal of their clients from all charges.
On April 19, 2017, the ICT framed charges against the five alleged razakar leaders of Netrokona for seven wartime crimes charges including murder, abduction, rape, arson, looting and torture.
On May 22, 2016, Prosecution has filed formal charges sheet against six razakars of Netrokona over their crimes against humanity during Liberation War 1971.
The accused are- Abdul Mazid, 66, Abdul Khalek, 67, Kabir Khan, 70 Abdus Salam, 68, Nur Uddin, 70, and Abdur Rahman, 70,.
Of them, Abdur Rahman, 70, died at hospital after arrest in the case.
