  Man to die for killing wife in B’baria


BRAHMANBARIA: A court here on Tuesday (Feb 5) sentenced a man to death for killing his wife following a feud over extra marital affairs in 2013.

The convict was identified as Jisan Chowdhury Jiku.

Second District and Session Judge of Brahmanbaria Mohammad Shafiul Azam passed the order. 

According to the case statement, the convict strangled his wife, Jesmin Akter Akhi, to death following a feud on August 17 in 2013.

After the incident, Jiku phoned Sadar Model Police Station and told police that he murdered her wife over extra marital affairs.

Victim’s father Muslim Munshi, hails from Demra area of Dhaka, filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station in this connection.

After arrest, the convict gave confessional statement before the court. 

After examining all the records and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict.

The lone accused was on the run after released from jail on bail and tried in absentia.
