DHAKA: The High Court ordered withdrawal of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Islam as his name surfaced in the depositions of a yaba case.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the order Monday (Mar 4).
The court also rejected a bail plea of a police member, accused in the same case.
Officials concerned were directed to end investigation within a month.
Srijit Chatterjee Bappy moved for the accused and Assistant Attorney General Yusuf Mahmud Morshed moved for the state, at the courtroom.
The case was filed under narcotics control act over recovering some 49,000 yaba from Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Alam Sarowardi’s residence on Mar 7, 2018.
In deposition, two policemen and several others said about the OC’s involvement with the yaba cache.
