DHAKA: The High Court directed the authorities concerned to submit a list of private hospitals that are providing 10 percent bed and free treatment facilities to the poor, insolvent and helpless patients as per the rules.
The HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam issued the order with a rule on Thursday (March 7).
The bench also directed to submit a list of those who are not obeying the rules.
Health secretary and Director General of Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) were asked to submit the report within May 8.
The court also asked to explain why private hospitals should not be directed to provide 10 percent bed and treatment facilities to the poor, insolvent and helpless patients at free of cost.
Health secretary, Director General of DGHS and the authorities concerned were made respondents to the rule.
The writ petition was filed by filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Abu Towhid Bhuiyan Prince.
