DHAKA: The High Court stayed investigation of a case filed against acclaimed photographer Shahidul Alam under the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Act.
A bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil stayed the investigation of the case for three months and issued a rule on Thursday (March 14).
Lawyer AF Hasan Arif and barrister Sara Hossain stood for Shahidul while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state.
Earlier on Wednesday, HC sought record of the case.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal and Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty granted bail to Shahidul Alam on November 15 of 2018.
Shahidul Alam was arrested in the ICT Act case for “spreading propaganda” and anti-government information on Facebook and electronic media.
Rehnuma, wife of Shahidul Alam, said her husband gave an interview to international media about students’ movement for safe roads.
Besides, her husband, as Rehnuma said, came live on Facebook about the issue for a number of times.
Shahidul Alam underwent remand a few times.
