DHAKA: Investigation report submission was deferred to April 16 in the case over the killings of LGBT magazine founder Xulhaz Mannan and his theater activist friend Mahbub Tonoy.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistarte Ziaur Rahman reset the date as investigation officers of the case couldn’t submit the report on scheduled date Tuesday (March 19).
Former protocol officer to US ambassador to Dhaka Xulhaz Mannan and Mahbub Tonoy were hacked to death at Xulhaz’s residence in Kalabagan of Dhaka on April 25, 2016.
“A total of seven persons took part in the killing mission,” said Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Chief Monirul Islam on January 16.
All the suspects are activists of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), he added.
A total of five suspects were arrested so far.
Of them, Dawrah trainer of ABT’s military wing and also an activist of Jamaat Shibir in Jashore Asadullah was remanded in several phases.
