DHAKA: Investigation officer (IO) of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mizanur Rahman Talukder murder case submitted the charge sheet before a Dhaka court bringing murder charges against two accused.
Metropolitan magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan on Sunday (March 24) deferred the date for submission of the investigation report to April 25 and issued a warrant to arrest the fugitive accused Faruk Howlader.
Sub inspector of Rupnagar Police Station Altaf Hossian and also General Registrar officer (GRO) of the court told Banglanews about the updates of the case.
In the charge sheet, 21 people have been made witnesses. Two suspected killers of ASP Mizanur Rahman have been exempted from the murder charge as they were killed in separate “gunfights” in Dhaka and Kushtia on July 26, 2017. They are Zakir Hossain and Enamul Haque.
The investigation officer Sirajul Islam of the case, who is also the inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch Police, submitted the charge sheet accusing Shah Alam and Faruk Howlader.
Shah Alam has been staying in jail in the case while Faruk Howlader is on the run.
Earlier, on February 19, the investigation officer failed to submit the report to the court and the same court set March 24 for submission of the investigation report.
On June 21, 2017 Talukdar, an assistant superintendent of police Savar Highway Circle,, was found dead near the Birulia Bridge in Rupnagar on the outskirts of Dhaka on Wednesday.
According to an autopsy report made by Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the body bore injury marks on neck and other parts. Police believe he was strangled by miscreants.
