DHAKA: The High Court issued a rule against two persons including a lawyer of sensational Subarnachar gang-rape suspect Ruhul Amin on charge of concealing information.

Besides, Ruhul Amin’s bail plea was rejected.

The HC bench of Justice Mamnun Rahman and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman issued the rule Wednesday (March 27).

Information was hidden in the bail plea. Confessional statement of the victim and the victim woman’s deposition under section 22 weren’t attached, said Attorney General Mahbubey Alam.

On March 23, the same bench recalled its earlier order that granted bail for one year to Ruhul Amin.

Lawyer Md Ashek-e-Rasul then moved for the accused, at the hearing for Ruhul Amin’s bail plea.

However, the victim alleged that Ruhul Amin threatened her while she was returning home after voting for ‘paddy sheaf’ in the 11th parliamentary elections on December 30, 2018. At the night, a group of 10 men raped her after tying her husband and children at her residence.

The husband of the 32-year-old woman filed a case with Char Jabbar Police Station on December 31.

The mother-of-four claimed that all the attackers were followers of Ruhul Amin Member, a former member of Char Jubilee Union Parishad and former publicity secretary of the upazila unit Awami League.

Police arrested 10 persons over the gang-rape that triggered widespread criticism countrywide.
