DHAKA: The High Court on Thursday (April 4) summoned the manager of Green Line Paribahan Ltd for avoiding an earlier order to compensate a Dhaka road crash victim.
The manager was ordered to appear before the court by 2pm.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader issued the order.
Lawyer Khandaker Shamsul Haque Reza moved for the writ petition and Aji Ullah moved for Green Line, at the courtroom.
On Mar 12, the same HC bench ordered the authorities of Green Line to compensate victim Russel Sarker with Tk 50 lakh, within two weeks.
Besides, the bus authorities were directed to carry the costs if Russel requires a surgery on leg and implantation of an artificial leg.
Russel Sarker, then a rent-a-car driver, lost one of his legs under the wheel of a Green Line Paribahan bus on the slope of Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Dholaipar area of Jatrabari on Apr 28, 2018.
On May 14, 2018, the court earlier issued a rule why Russel won’t be compensated with one crore taka, following a writ petition from former lawmaker Umme Kulsum Smrity.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court too upheld the HC order after rejecting an appeal of Green Line on March 31.
