Nawshaba needs not to appear before court

DHAKA:  A Dhaka court fixed May 28 for submission of investigation report in the case filed against actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed under ICT Act in August of 2018.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Didar Hossain in its order on Wednesday (April 17) said that lawyers instead of Nawshaba can appear before the court.

Under Section 205 of Criminal Procedure, Nawshaba’s lawyer pleaded to respond to court attendance by the lawyer in absence of her.

The court granted the plea, meaning Nawshaba does not have to come to the court from the next date onwards.

Earlier, the same court granted permanent bail to her on January 15.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested her from the city’s Uttara area on August 4 of 2018.

She was placed on a 4-day remand after the arrest.

In a Facebook live, Nawshaba claimed that the attackers killed two students and gouged out the eyes of another at Jigatala intersection of the capital while students’ movement for safe roads was underway.

Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed is mostly famous for her role in Bangladesh’s first ever blockbuster cop thriller ‘Dhaka Attack.’
