BRAHMANBARIA: Law Minister Anisul Haq said that the country’s judicial system is completely independent and that’s why the corrupt people are getting justice.
“The government is not making any intervention on the court …so the corrupts are now facing trial irrespective of political affiliation,” he said.
The minister, as the chief guest, was addressing the inaugural ceremony of some development projects in Kasba of Brahmanbaria Friday (Apr 19).
“The lower court gave sentence to Begum Zia as she was found guilty of stealing the money of the orphans… we didn’t find any intervention by the government as the higher court has enhanced her jail term from five years to 10 years disposing of her appeal petition,” the minister commented in reply to a recent statement made by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
There was no independence of judiciary in the country during the regime of the BNP, added Anisul Haq.
Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hayat-Ud-Dowla Khan, Additional Police Super of Kosba-Akhaura circle Abdul Karim and Upazila Chairman Rashedul Kawsar Bhiyan, among others, were present.
