Mamun jailed for 7 years, fined Tk.12cr Gias Uddin Al Mamun

DHAKA: A Dhaka court sentenced BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s friend Gias Uddin Al Mamun to seven years of imprisonment and fined Taka 12 crore in a money laundering case.

Judge Abu Syed Diljar Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 pronounced the judgment in presence of Mamun on Wednesday (April 24).

Mamun siphoned Tk 6, 0157762 off to London’s NatWest Bank. Later, ACC filed a case with Cantonment police Station on September 22 of 2011.

He was arrested, during the caretaker government’s regime, on January 30 of 2007 by joint forces. Since then he has been in jail.
