DHAKA: The High Court expressed its satisfaction over the investigation into the murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a Feni madrasa girl who was killed by setting her afire, conducted by the Bureau of Investigation (PBI) so far.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader on Sunday (April 28) made the remark after hearing a writ petition seeking formation of the judicial commission on the incident.
Deputy attorney general Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar move for the state while Yunus Ali Akand stood for the writ petitioner.
Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar said the work of the PBI has been satisfactory. Therefore, the court does not want to influence the investigation by giving any order on it. Another thing is that all the things have been running smoothly so far. At this time, the court did not see the logical reasons for interference.
He also said as per information we have received, charge sheet hopefully will be submitted soon. PBI has given all kinds of freedom to probe into the murder incident.
Yunus Ali Akand said a supplementary plea has been filed against the Madrasa Committee. The committee has already been dissolved. But we want for necessary legal action against them. The court asked me to give it to the state.
Earlier on April 17, a writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking formation of a judicial inquiry commission to investigation into the killing of Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi by setting fire on her.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the writ petition on Wednesday (April 17).
In the writ petition, he also sought HC order upon the government to take steps to send Nusrat murder case to speedy tribunal and to take stern action against the law enforcers for their negligence in duty over the incident.
The petitioner also sought HC directives to the authorities concerned of to pay adequate compensation for the family members of Nusrat.
He also urged HC to direct the authorities concerned to take measures to transfer the case to Rapid Action Battalion for the sake of fair investigation.
The HC may hear the petition on Thursday, said Eunus Ali Akond.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and police arrested 14 people, including Sonagazi municipal councilor Maksudul Alam, so far in the connection and the court placed them on different terms remand for interrogation.
A Feni court on April 10, placed the key accused Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa principal Siraj ud Doula on a 7-day remand and two other people on five-day remand each in the case.
The others are Abser Uddin, lecturer of English Department of the madrasa and student Arif.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, the madrasha girl from Feni’s Sonagazi upazila, who was set on fire on April 6, succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Wednesday (April 10) night.
Nusrat was kept on life support at DMCH since April 8.
On April 6, the student went to the exam center at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa. Later, some students, who are loyal to the principal of the madrasa, took her to the roof and set fire on her by four people wearing burqa, veil and gloves.
At her screaming, locals, students and teachers took her to hospital.

The heinous incident occurred days after her mother on March 28 filed a case against the madrasa principal SM Siraj-ud-Doula on charge of harassing the girl sexually on March 27.
