DHAKA: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court rejected a plea that sought a stay on the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against BNP Standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed.
The Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain issued the order Tuesday (May 14).
Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud moved for Moudud while lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the ACC, at the courtroom.
"The Appellate Division has rejected his leave to appeal. So, deposition of the case will take place at judicial court," said Khurshid Alam Khan.
The Appellate Division also ordered to settle the writ cases filed over Moudud's tax, upon plea from his lawyer.
ACC filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on September 16, 2007 accusing Moudud of possessing assets worth Tk 7,38,48,287 beyond known income and concealing information of assets worth Tk 4,40,37,375.
