FENI: The case filed over killing of Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi after sexual harassment has been shifted to Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain on Thursday (May 30) fixed June 10 for next hearing of the case after 21 accused produced before it at noon.
Special Superintendent of Police MD Iqbal of Chittagong Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and other officials were present in the court.
Earlier on Wednesday (May 29), police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has pressed charges against 16 people in the case filed over killing Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi by setting her on fire.
Shah Alam, inspector of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge-sheet to the court senior judicial magistrate Jakir Hossian of Feni Judge Court.
On the basis of the complaint, we sought the death penalty for each accused, said Banaj Kumar Mazumder, deputy inspector general (DIG) of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) at Dhanmondi on Tuesday (May 28).
In the 772-page charge sheet, the role of each accused in the incident is given in detail.
Ninety-two witnesses have been included in the final charge-sheet.
Court inspector Golam Jilani told Banglanews that all 21 accused, including 16 charge-sheeted, were produced before the court today.
The accused include Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa’s ex-principal Siraj Ud Doula, Awami League leader Ruhul Amin, Nur Uddin, Shahdat Hossain Shamim, Maksud Alam alias Moksud councilor, Saifur Rahman Mohammad Jobayer, Jabed Hossain alias Sakhwat Hossain Jaber, Hafez Abdul Kader, Absar Uddin, Kamrun Nahar Moni, Umme Sultana Popy alias Tuhin alias Champa/Shampa, Abdur Rahim Sharif, Eftekhar Uddin Rana, Imran Hossain alias Mamun, Mohammad Shamim and Mohiuddin Shakil.
Of the 16 accused, 12 have already given their confessional statement before magistrate.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, the madrasha girl from Feni’s Sonagazi upazila, who was set on fire on April 6, succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Wednesday (April 10) night.
