DHAKA: Feni's Sonagazi Police Station former Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moazzem Hossain was arrested in Dhaka, in a case filed over leaking the filmed version deposition of slain madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi.   

Moazzem was nabbed from Shahbagh area, Police Headquarters Assistant Director General (AIG) Sohel Rana confirmed the matter to Banglanews Sunday (June 16).

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal issued an arrest warrant against Moazzem on May 27.

After two days, he filed an appeal with the High Court seeking bail in advance.

Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a madrasa girl at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, who was set on fire on April 6, succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on the night of April 10.

Chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Banaj Kumar Majumder earlier said that all the accused involved in the incident of setting Nusrat on fire, in a bid to kill her, were arrested.

Moazzem Hossain was earlier suspended and withdrawn from Sonagazi Police Station and adjusted to Rangpur Range after he was proved neglecting duty in the incident of setting Nusrat afire.

On May 29, police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has pressed charges against 16 people in the case filed over the murder.

21 accused, including 16 charge-sheeted, were produced before the court on May 30.
