CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A court here sentenced six members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 10 years in jail each, in two separate cases.
The convicts were fined Tk 10,000 each. They have to stay more six months behinds bars, in default.
Chapainawabganj Additional & Sessions Judge Showkat Ali issued the order Sunday (June 16), in presence of the convicts.
The convicts are-- Selim alias Harun Mistri, Robiul Islam alias Robi, Romjan Ali, Abdul Mumin alias Abdullah, Abdur Rakib alias Sumon and Hazrat Ali alias Firoz Kabir.
Additional Public Prosecutor Anjuman Ara said police detained the convicts from Bholahat upazila in 2009.
They were organizing JMB in renewed efforts in Nachol, Gomostapur and Bholahat upazilas.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman accused them in two cases filed under terrorism and arms laws.
They were indicted in two charge-sheets filed with the court in 2009 and 2016.
