KHULNA:   Five youths were sentenced to life in prison for killing a man in Paikgacha upazila of the district.

The judge also fined each Taka 20,000, in default 6 more months of rigorous imprisonment will be applicable.

Judge Yarob Hossen of district and sessions judge’s court of Khulna delivered the verdict on Monday (June 17).

Lawyer for the state M Ilias Khan said the murder was carried out over previous enmity.

All of the convicts were- Mizanur Rahman Montu, 28, Amir Sarder, 25, Mizanur Rahman alias Chengra Mizan, 22, Hasan Gazi, 24 and Lutfar Sheikh 30-present during the trial.

Harun-ar-Rashid went missing from Christen Para of Paikgacha upazila from December 25 of 2006.

His dead body was recovered from a school septic tank on June 10 of 2007.

Rizia Begum, mother of the deceased, filed a murder case over the incident.
