RANGPUR:  A couple was sentenced to life in prison by a district court for beating their 8-year-old child to death in Badarganj upazila of the district.

Judge Hussain Tarek of the Special Judge Court of Rangpur handed down the verdict on Sunday (June 30).

Momena Begum beat her 8-year-old child to death while it was asleep. Later, the body was buried in the cattle house.

Police, being the plaindiff, filed a case with Badarganj police station on April 8 of that year.
