DHAKA: The High Court ordered the authorities concerned to remove illegal business structures from the spaces allotted for car parking in the capital city.
Otherwise, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) have to evict those in next six months, it said.
The HC bench of Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore and Justice Mohammad Ullah issued the order Wednesday (July 3) after final hearing on a rule.
The writ petition was filed on behalf of Human Rights & Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB).
Advocate Monjil Morshed moved for the plea while Advocate Imam Hossain and Md Shahjahan moved for Rajuk, at the courtroom.
As per the court order, the building owners have to remove the illegal business structures by their own, said Monjil Morshed.
The court also ordered city corporation authorities to take legal steps against vehicle parking in unapproved places.
The defendants were asked to submit progress report once in each three months, upon implementing the order.
