KUSHTIA: Three youths were sentenced to life in prison by a Kushtia court in a drug case.

Judge Arup Kumar Goswami Jonakirno of district and sessions judge’s court of Kushtia delivered the verdict in presence of convicts on Wednesday (July 9).

The convicts were-Mannan alias Maya, 25 and Anisur Rahman, 22, sons of  Asadul Hiru of Mohammadpur Baganpara village under Gangni upazila of Meherpur and Abdus Salam, 24.

Public Prosecutor (PP) of Kushtia Judge Court advocate Arup Kumar Nandi said the court delivered the verdict as the allegation was proved without any shred of doubt.

According to court sources, a team of Kushtia detective branch of police detained three persons in possession of 194 bottles of Phensedyl along with a 3-wheeler from Tatibondo area on Kushtia-Meherpur road in Mirpur upazila on 11 September of 2017.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bablur Rahman Badi of detective police filed a case under narcotics control act-1990.
