KHULNA: A court here on Tuesday (July 17) sentenced five persons to death on charge of raping a bank employee and killing her and her father at their city residence nearly four years ago.  

The convicts are-- Saiful Islam Pitil, 30, Shariful, 27, Liton, 28, Abu Sayeed, 25 and Azizur Rahman Palash, 26.

Of them, Shariful is absconding.

Khulna Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 Judge Mohiduzzaman pronounced the verdict.

Liton and Sayeed confessed before the court that Parvin's father was choked to death at gunpoint and Parvin was raped before being killed by a group of five. The bodies were thrown in a septic tank of the house in Moulvir Darga area under Lobonchora thana of Khulna city on September 18, 2015.

The court took deposition from 22 persons in the murder case and 28 persons in the gang-rape case.

The court's special public prosecutor (PP) Advocate Farid Ahmed directed the case.
