Renu murder: Key suspect Hridoy remanded

DHAKA:  A Dhaka court placed key suspect Hridoy on remand for five days over lynching of Taslima Begum Renu on suspicion of child abduction in Badda of the capital.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Jasimuddin on Wednesday (July 24) passed the order when detective branch of police placed him before it with a 10-day remand petition.

Earlier on Tuesday (July 23), Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained one of the ringleaders-Hridoy involved in lynching of Taslima Begum Renu on suspicion of child abduction in Badda of the capital.

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, DMP’s Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam said he was detained from Bhulta area of Narayanganj).

On secret information, a team of DB police of east division conducted the drive at Bhulta area. Now, Hridoy is under the custody of DB police.

Taslima Begum Renu, 40, from Mohakhali in the capital, is among three people beaten and killed by separate mobs in Badda on Saturday (July 20).

The mother of two went to a local school in North Badda of the capital on that morning  to get information for admitting her daughter.

She was dragged away from the headmaster’s room on suspicion of a child abductor.

The deceased’s nephew Nasir Uddin filed a case with city’s Badda police station against some 400-500 persons.
