DHAKA: Lawyer Ishrat Hasan filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking five crore taka compensation to the family members of lynched Taslima Begum Renu.  

The lawyer also urged the court to issue directives to quickly compensate the family with Tk 10 lakh within 15 days.

The bench of Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Asjhraful Kamal is expected to hear the plea.

Secretaries to cabinet and home, law and information ministries, inspector general of police (IGP), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner and Badda Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) were made defendants. 

Hailed from Raipur upazila of Lakshmipur, 40-year-old Taslima Begum Renu lived in Mohakhali of the capital city.

She was killed by a mob, suspecting her to be a 'children grabber', after she had gone to a school in North Badda to get information for enrolling her daughter Saturday (July 20) morning.

The deceased's nephew Nasir Uddin, as a plaintiff, filed a case with Badda Police Station accusing some 400-500 unnamed people.

Police arrested several suspects including the key one Hridoy.
