CHAPAI NAWABGANJ: A Chapai Nawabganj court awarded death penalty to three persons and sentenced life imprisonment to four persons for killing a man centering on extra-marital affair on 29 March of 2015.

Judge Md. Shawkot Ali of district and sessions judge’s court of Chapai Nawabganj delivered the verdict on Wednesday (July 31).

The court also fined them Taka 1 lakh each.

The death-raw convicts were- Md. Mehrab Hossain Bachchu, son of late Md. Menshad Mandal, of Shibganj upazila, Jamal Uddin, son of Bahar Uddin, of Maheshpur upazila and Md. Hazrat Ali, son of Abdus Sattar Setab of Choto Maheshpur

The lifers were - Saira Khatun, wife of the deceased, Md Aslam, son of late Rabu of Choto Maheshpur, Md. Mohbul, son of Md. Alauddin, Md. Mitul, son of Md. Manglu, of Paranpur Boliharpur. 

Rakib alias Babu was called outside on pretext of having picnic on the night of 29 March of 2015. Babu was murdered with assistance from his wife Sayera and then his body was dumped into Mahananda River.

His body surfaced next morning. Naimul Islam, father of the deceased, filed a case with Shibganj Police Station.

“The convicts conducted this murder at his wife’s persuasion,” additional public prosecutor, Anjuman Ara, told Banglanews.
