DHAKA: The High Court has ordered the preservation and display of portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in every court room/ Ejlas across the country within two months.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader passed the order on Thursday (August 29).
It also issued a rule as to know why the inaction of the defendants in preserving and displaying the portrait of Bangabandhu in every court room or ajlas across the country.
Later, Subir Nandi Das told reporters that all the courts / aegis of the country had been ordered to preserve and display the portrait of the father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman within two months. Later, the defendants were ordered to report the implementation of the order after two months.
'We have told the court that the portrait of the father of their nation is being displayed in the offices and courts in different countries, including India. It has a constitutional obligation. That's why we filed this writ petition. '
Later, Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar said that according to the law, the portraits of the father of the nation should be displayed and preserved in all institutions except religious institutions. So you have to show up the portrait of Bangabandhu in the courtroom too.
The defendants in the rule are the law secretary, public works secretary, finance secretary, registrar general of the Supreme Court and registrar of the high court division.
The writ petition was filed by the Supreme Court lawyer Subir Nandi Das on August 21 this year.
