DHAKA: A court here on Tuesday (September 3) dismissed the case filed against waz mahfil speaker Mufti Muhammad Gias Uddin At Tahery for his ‘controversial’ remarks.
In the case filed under Digital Security Act, he was accused of hurting religious sentiment and misleading Muslims by delivering Islamic sermons in obscene style.
The case was disposed of by Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal Judge Mohammad As Shams Jaglul Hossain.
Dhaka Bar Association member Md Ibrahim Khalil lodged the case on September 1.
Gias Uddin At Tahery, also the founding chairman of 'Dawat-e Imaani Bangladesh', came under spotlight after a waz mahfil (religious sermon session) video went viral on social media where he was seen making fun with the attendees.
However, as the case disposed of by the tribunal, the plaintiff's lawyer said Tuesdays' judgment will be challenged at the High Court.
