KISHOREGANJ: Seven men who murdered a farmer at his residence over land dispute in Austagram upazila have been awarded life sentences at a Kishorganj court on Thursday (September 26).
Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim of Additional District and Sessions Judges Court of Kishoreganj handed down the verdict
The convicts are--Mangu Mia, Jongu Mia, Manju Mia, Kajal, Enayet, Kakan Mia and Dulu Mia—from Kastol Shekherhati village of Austagram upazila of Kishoreganj. Among them, Manju is absconding.
According to the case statement, a farmer, who went by the name of Abbas Ali, of Kastol Shekherhati village was killed by the convicts at his residence on July 23 of 2005.
Miru Miah, elder brother of deceased’s wife, filed a case against 11 persons with Austagram police station on the day of the incident.
2 accused were withdrawn from the case, because they died.
Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) advocate Sayed Shahjahan moved for the state while advocate Rakhal Chandra Sarkar moved for the defendants.
