CHANDPUR: A Chandpur court gave life-term imprisonment to four persons for killing a farmer in Matlab Uttar upazila of the district in 2015.

District and Sessions Judge Md Julfikar Ali Khan handed down the verdict on Sunday (September 29).

The lifers were Abul Kalam, 50, a resident at Koiorkandi village of the upazila, Md Babul, 42, Md Khokon, 45, and Md Liton, 19, son of Fallu Miah, who hails from Kishoreganj district.

According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked Abdul Motin Prodhan at the night of July 5, 2015. He underwent treatment at upazila health complex. Then, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), but died there. 

Nasima Begum, daughter of the deceased, filed a case with Matlab Uttar police station accusing them after the murder.

Police pressed the charge sheet on December 13.
