9 additional judges appointed to High Court

DHAKA: The government has appointed nine new additional judges to the High Court division of country’s Supreme Court.

Law ministry’s public relations office Rezaul Karim, confirmed Banglanews of the appointment on Sunday (Oct 20).

Those recruited include three district judges Mohammad Mahbubul Islam, Shahed Nuruddin, and Dr Md Akhteruzzaman.

Supreme Court Registrar General Dr Md Zakir Hossian has also been appointed as judge to the High Court.

Four Supreme Court lawyers, too, will judge cases at the High Court. They are lawyer Kazi Ebadat Hossain, and lawyer AKM Jahirul Haque, Deputy Attorney General K. M. Zahid Sarwar, Deputy Attorney General Kazi Jinat Huq.

The law ministry on Sunday issued a gazette appointing the nine judges to the High Court. 

It said that the powers bestowed upon the ministry by the Article 98 of the Constitution, they have been appointed as additional judges to the High Court Division in Bangladesh Supreme Court for more than two years from the date of their oath of office.  This appointment will be effective from the day of the oath taking.
