DHAKA: Expelled Dhaka South unit Jubo League President Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat was sent to jail after 10-day remand in two cases filed under the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah gave the order on Thursday (Oct 24).
Investigation officer of the cases produced Samrat before the court appealing to send him to jail.
Earlier on Oct 15, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain placed Samrat on 10-day remand in the two cases.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat in Cumilla on Oct 6.
Jubo League expelled Samrat and vice president Enamul Haque Arman after the arrest on October 6.
Samrat was admitted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases on Oct 10 as he fell ill and later on Saturday he was taken to central jail after recovery.
Samrat went underground once information linking leaders of the Awami League's youth front with the illegal gambling business surfaced.
Earlier on September 24, the government imposed a travel ban on Samrat.
