DHAKA: The High Court ordered the authorities of MV Yard launch to give Tk 3 lakh in 15 days for the treatment of six-year-old Zaima Newaz Tisa, who lost finger of right foot after being hit by the launch at Fatullah terminal. 

The court also issued a rule asking why it will not be directed the authorities concerned to give Tk 50 lakh to Zaima’s family as compensation, including her medical treatment.

The High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman Sunday (Oct 27) passed the order after hearing a writ petition.

Barristers Anisul Hassan and Shahinuzzaman Shaheen moved for the writ petition while Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy stood for the state.

Citing the court order, Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy said that the court had issued a rule and ordered the defendants number seven to 12 to give three lakh taka in 15 days to child Zaima’s family.’

Zaima lost finger of her right foot when a launch hit her at Fatullah launch terminal on December 29, 2017.
