Fahad murder case to be shifted to Speedy Trial Tribunal Law Minister Anisul Huq

DHAKA: Law Minister Anisul Huq said BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case will be shifted to Speedy Trial Tribunal for quick disposal.

After the charge-sheet of the case had been submitted, the minister made the development on Wednesday (Nov 13) in response to a query of a journalist at his office in Secretariat in city.

He said: "I will request the Home Minister to carry out the trial under the 'Speedy Trial Act, 2000. When it comes to the Law Ministry, we will complete the legal process to prosecute the case in a speedy trial tribunal.”

"As per the directives of the Prime Minister and the demands of the people, the trial of the murder would be disposed of shortly," Anisul Huq added.

Earlier in the day, Detective Branch (DB) of Police submitted a charge sheet against 25 accused in the murder case of BUET student Abrar Fahad to the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kairsarul Islam.

Abrar Fahad, aged 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department at BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology), was tortured to death reportedly by BCL leaders of BUET unit at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7.
