DHAKA: Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain condemned the chaos made by pro-BNP lawyers at courtroom during hearing of an appeal filed by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case on Thursday (December 5).
The judicial activities of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court remained halted amid the chaos.
After returning to the courtroom around 11:35am, the CJ said, “Everything has a limit…. I have not seen such a situation in the courtroom before”.
Earlier in the day, Attorney General said: “BSMMU (Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University) VC said some tests (of Khaleda) have been done while some are left. So it takes time to report. The court then adjourned the hearing till December 12, ordering the report to be made by 11 (December) without any failure.”
At that time, Khaleda Zia's lawyer Zainul Abedin, requested for the report to be given on Sunday or Monday (December 8 or 9), but the court did not change the date. Later, the layers began chaos and left the room. After the break, Zainul Abedin wanted to do hearing when court had begun, but the court did not respond.
