BARGUNA: A Barguna court asked officer-in-charge of Barguna Sadar Police Station to investigate allegation brought against Ayesha Siddiqa Minni for threatening two witnesses of a case filed over the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif.
District and Sessions Judge Asaduzzaman on Sunday (February 2) asked the OC to submit investigation report within seven working days to the court.
The petition was filed before the court seeking its order to cancel bail to Ayesha Siddiqa Minni granted by High Court.
Plaintiff's lawyer in the case M. Mozibul Haque Kislu said that Minni along with four accomplices threatened two witnesses of the Rifat murder case at their residences. So, the state filed a petition seeking cancellation of her bail to ensure safety for witnesses. In view of the petition, the court asked to submit a show-case notice. After hearing the notice, the court directed the investigation against Minni.
Investigating officer of the case and OC of Barguna Sadar Police Station told Banglanews: “The court directed to submit an investigation report within next seven working days.”
22-year-old Rifat Sharif, from Barguna sadar upazila, was hacked to death indiscriminately by Minni's alleged former husband Nayan Bond and his aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College on June 26 of 2019.
A shocking video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, sparking widespread outrage and demand for justice from the countrymen.
Ayesha Siddiqa Minni was arrested for her alleged involvement in the murder as well for the sake of proper investigation of the case. Later, she secured bail from High Court.
