DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed on Monday categorically said the Election Commission (EC) decided to deploy army in the upcoming general elections.

“We have decided to deploy army alongside BGB, RAB, Coastguard, Police and Ansar personnel in the polls for holding the polls free, fair and credible,” he said.   

The CEC came up with the assertion while announcing the election schedule during addressing the nation in the evening.

He claimed all the elections, including by-polls and city corporations, were held in free and fair manner during their tenure.
