Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated Taka nine crore as Eid gift for the shop workers, owners and traders of Bangabazar who were affected recently by a devastating fire.

The beneficiaries have already received the money through their mobile phones, Prime Minister's Press Wing sources said, quoting her principal secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah.

The fire gutted more than 2500 shops at Bangabazar Market in the capital early Tuesday (April 4). 

According to the Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity, the fire may have burnt more than Tk 1,000 crore worth of investment into ashes.
