The Election Commission (EC) today (November 8) said the European Union, Commonwealth and US-based National Democratic Institute (NDI) have so far expressed their interest in monitoring the upcoming parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. 

The commission's Public Relations Director Md Shariful Alam informed the matter. 

The Commonwealth's pre-election assessment mission will meet EC officials on November 19, he added. 

Earlier, the EU sent a pre-poll mission and decided not to send a full observer mission. 

However, the EU later said they would send a four-member observer team to monitor the polls.
