A compartment of a Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express train derailed today (November 21), snapping the rail link between Dhaka and the northern regions of Bangladesh.
The incident took place at Gharinda railway station at around 4:57am.
Abu Salam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tangail Sadar Police Station confirmed the matter.
When the Rangpur Express train reached the railway station in Tangail, the cargo compartment close to the engine abruptly derailed from the tracks, he said.
Rail service between the northern regions of Bangladesh and Dhaka is therefore cut off, Abu Salam added.
