Public transport services will continue on the day of the 12th parliamentary election, slated for 7 January, but no long-route buses will be allowed to ply the roads that day.
Public Security Division Senior Secretary Md Mustafizur Rahman came up with the announcement at a training programme for executive magistrates in Dhaka on Tuesday (January 2).
The Electoral Training Institute (ETI) organised the event at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
Public transport, private cars, CNG-run autorickshaws, and other autorickshaws will be allowed to ply on the polling day for the convenience of voters, Mustafizur said.
“However, the movement of motorcycles and long-distance buses will remain banned as before. The ministry concerned will issue instructions in this regard soon,” he added.
