3 killed as truck hits autorickshaw in Jamalpur

Three people were killed and three others injured as a truck hits a CNG-run autorickshaw on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh regional highway at Jamalpur Sadar upazila on Tuesday (January 2).

The accident took place at Bharuakhali Bazaar area in the upazila afternoon.

The deceased were identified as the autorickshaw driver Arman Mia, 34, a resident of Nandir Bazaar area, Mojaffar Hossain, 38, of Munshirchar area under Sherpur Sadar upazila, and Khokon Mia, 45, from Ishwarganj upazila in Mymensingh.

According to locals, the accident occurred when a Muktagacha-bound sand-laden truck rammed the autorickshaw on the way to Jamalpur.

Jamalpur Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sohrab Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said three people, including the autorickshaw driver and two passengers, died on the spot and three others sustained serious injuries at that time,.

The legal action would be taken in this regard, he added
